Justice statistics on home security:
- Property crime makes up about three-quarters
of all crime in the United States.
- Overall, in about 85% of all burglaries,

thefts of less than $50, 4.5 million between $50 and

136 overall property crimes per 1,000 households.
- Rented households were burglarized

than those in owned property.
- The Western portion of the nation experiences
the highest rates of property crime overall in the
nation.
- In 2002 Western households had at least
slightly higher rates of property crime and theft
of all regions.
